Title:           Attorney – Land Use/Zoning

Location:   Walden, NY (Orange County) - Fully in Office

Salary:       $150,000 - $185,000 + Bonus

Growing Established Law Firm Seeks a Land Use /Zoning Attorney to join their team!

Responsibilities:

•     Represent property owners and developers in land use and zoning matters before local boards and agencies throughout Orange County and the Hudson Valley

•     Prepare and submit applications for site plan approvals, variances, special permits, and subdivisions

•     Advise clients on zoning compliance, land use strategy, and development feasibility within local zoning and planning frameworks

•     Draft legal memoranda, applications, resolutions, and supporting documentation related to land use matters

•     Appear at public hearings and administrative proceedings in connection with development approvals

•     Handle related land use litigation, including Article 78 proceedings, when necessary

•               Maintain direct client communication and manage multiple matters concurrently

Skills & Experience:

·      Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and licensed to practice in New York State.

·      5+ years’ experience of land use and zoning experience in New York State

·      Experience working with zoning codes, planning boards, and zoning boards of appeals in Orange County and/or the Hudson Valley strongly preferred

·      Demonstrated experience appearing before zoning & planning boards of appeals

·      Strong understanding of SEQRA approval processes

·      Excellent organizational, legal writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills
